Before you Import

Verify vehicle branding history

Obtain all Recall clearance documents. There can be no open recalls on the vehicle.

Importers should be aware of the costs associated with importing a vehicle from the United States.

*$195.00 + GST for vehicles entering through a border crossing in any province
*195.00 + GST and QST for vehicles entering through a border crossing in Quebec

At the Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection requires at least 72 hours (three business days) advance notice before any self-propelled vehicle is permanently exported from the United States. The vehicle must be presented to U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the time of export. U.S. Customs and Border Protection recommends that you contact the border crossing directly to determine all documentation required and the hours of operation.

Canada Border Services Agency

The CBSA will check documentation to ensure you have the required documentation including title, documents, registration or proof of ownership. You will need to supply the vehicle import form required by your province or territory to license the vehicle. The CBSA will also facilitate the payment of the non-refundable RIV fee.

Please keep in mind you need 2 pieces of ID to purchase a car at the Larson Automotive Group.

1. Passport, Driver's License or any official picture ID counts as one
2. The second piece of ID must be one of the following showing the out-of-state address:
   • A current residential rental agreement
   • A property tax statement from the current or previous year
   • A utility bill, dated within the two previous months
   • A state income tax return from the previous year
   • A voter's registration card
   • A current credit report

If required ID is missing at time of delivery, a fee of 10 percent of the purchase price will be assessed until correct documentation is received.
